CROSS COUNTRY NEWS

2021 SEASON OPENER On a day more suitable for playing in the pool, the Rebel Girls and Boys opened the 2021 Cross Country season at the Farmington Invite. The meet held Monday August 23 had 11 schools in attendance. The Girls placed 2nd at the Invite despite having only 2 of 6 Rebels with previous Cross Country experience. The two veterans lead the way with Ashley Orrick finishing in 3rd place (22:35) followed by Paige Rewerts in 4th (23:02). The 4 newcomers who ran the race were foreign exchange student from Japan Kokone Kasaya (12th - 24:18), Keagon Hamilton (21st - 28:15), Sarah Kraklow (35th - 34:47) and Katie Grinnell (41st - 39:37). The Rebel Boys only have 4 out this year short of the 5 runners needed to get a team score. Even so the Boys made a strong showing. Alex Welch was the first across the finish placing 6th in a time of 19:44. He was followed by Jared Prindiville (11th - 21:16) running his first XC race, Jack Winans (18th - 22:39) and Colby Carroll (19th - 23:40). Overall a good day for both teams!
